- 1863 Calvert Vaux building commissioned by James Pinchot, founder of the Am. Museum of Natural History, father to Gifford.
- Recreated 19th-century village. Catch a glimpse of history. There are special events throughout the year, and on summer weekends, several buildings are open to the public.
- Bring the kids to this 1870 schoolhouse to look at a day at school with eight grades taught by one teacher. Call for hours.
- 3-day literary festival for conversations between people who love to read books and people who write them. Events staged throughout town.
- This historic 1881 mill is the region’s largest revitalization project. Home to an event space, a coffee shop, an art gallery, a fitness center, and a group of shops.
- Your artistic home in the Upper Delaware Valley. Artist platforms in galleries, on stages, and at festivals. They are the Arts Council of Sullivan County.
- Frantz School was built in 1855 by Jacob Frantz, who lived on the nearby farm and wanted a place for his (and the area’s) children and future generations to go.
- Annual Oct. indie film festival. Screenings, live music, parties. At Milford Theatre, Hotel Fauchere, Columns Museum, others.
- 2 floors of exhibits of people, places, and things that make up the history of Pike County, including Zane Grey, Virginia Kidd, and Chief Thundercloud.
- They aim to “advance the traditional art of storytelling by showing the newest and best independent films from around the world and in their own backyard.”
- Annual 3-day end-of-summer festival celebrating Lake Wallenpaupack. 60+ events take place on the lake and in the cute small town of Hawley. Boat tours, free shuttle.
- The West End Fair has been held in August since 1921. You’ll find rides, games, fair food, live bands, and a demolition derby.
- Free June music festival in Honesdale’s Central Park. Local and nationally known live acts. Artists’ row, food vendors, kid’ area.
- Home to one of the largest collections of American Abstract Expressionist art in a magnificent and historic church building.
- Historic district short walk from Milford. Early 1800’s buildings known as The Upper Mill. Houses one of the only turning waterwheels in PA. Self-guided tour, restaurant.
- Artist cooperative located in the historic Forester’s Hall. Wide variety of work in all mediums and genres that changes on a monthly basis.
- Annual indie film festival in April at Mauch Chunk Opera house and venues in town. “Top 100 Reviewed Festivals” by FilmFreeway.
- Old-fashioned week-long county fair held in the beginning of August. Rides, games, shows, exhibits, animals, food.
- Old-fashioned small-town carnival since 1926. Local fire department hosts in July of each year. Rides, live music, raffles, food concessions, games, bingo. Admission is free.
- Old-fashioned county farm fair in August. Live music, food, booze, fireworks, amusement rides, live animals, a baking contest, demo derby, and the Coal Cracker Cornhole Tournament.
- 3-day live music event in mid-June. Local restaurants, artisans, and shops set up booths in downtown Milford.
- July Saturday evening concerts outdoors in a natural amphitheater. All sorts of music including Broadway, classical, bluegrass. Bring your own chairs and picnic.
- Four floors of exhibit space highlight the history of Monroe County. Mansion tours occur daily at 11 am and 2 pm. Appointments are recommended, so give them a call first.
