This small town is the big town of the Pocono Mountains. Well, it’s as big as it gets here in “the heart of the Poconos” with a population of about 6,000 people – the same as it was in 1900. East Stroudsburg has a population of almost 12,000, but it’s not really a town – it’s more an area. That said, East Stroudsburg proper is a tiny bit of a town that’s a twin to Stroudsburg. The big free-ranging area to the north and east has a different zip code (18302).
The town of Stroudsburg has got restaurants, from a shop that sells hot dogs to the truly stellar fine-casual dining of Momento. There’s the Sherman Theatre, a historic 1920s venue that programs live music, a handful of galleries and little shops, and more than anything, a lot of good restaurants.
