Great Bear Golf Club is the only Jack Nicklaus designed course in Northeast Pennsylvania and is rated the #1 public course in the state. It’s a semi-private golf club that features an 18-hole championship course.
His 18-hole championship design demonstrates why he has been considered the master of his game for decades. Nicklaus has taken the natural advantages of the site and worked harmoniously with them to create a course that is an experience in golf and aesthetics.
The course integrates three lakes, streams, wetlands, small bridges, and gently sloping hills.
18-hole, par 71, 7,025 yards. Fairways and greens are bent grass, no parallel fairways. Great Bear is a Golf Advisor Top Course in Pennsylvania and a Golf Digest Top 20 Course.
Great Bear Golf Club has interesting challenges and pro tees for the experienced golfer. The practice area includes a green, a chipping area, and a bunker.
Jack’s Pub is Great Bear’s restaurant, located in the clubhouse next to the pro shop. Very good sandwiches and salads. Nice dining room, small bar, pub menu, and dinner menu.
