Wallenpaupack Lake Trail is an easy/flat trail and a nice stroll by the lake. Scenery consists of gorgeous Lake Wallenpaupack, woods, and wildlife. Use the miles of trails for walking, trail running, and nature trips. It’s a 2.6 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail along the shore of the big lake.
The trailhead starts at the parking lot just a few hundred meters south of the Route 6 & Route 507 interchange on 507. The trail runs north along the top of the PPL dike 3/10’s of a mile and then past the new Lake Wallenpaupack Visitor Center.
The trail is lined with gravel and mulch which makes for easy walking or running. Bring a light snack or pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic by the lake. Don’t forget to bring your camera with you as well.
Hikers pass the Palmyra Township beach and the Wilsonville Campgrounds. The 1 1/2 mile mark is at the trailhead of the Wallenpaupack Creek Trail, close to the PPL Learning Center.
At this point, start back or continue hiking along the Wallenpaupack Creek Trail.
Whether you choose to do half or all of this trail, it’s a great, gentle option for those who prefer a leisurely walk. The path around Lake Wallenpaupack features beautifully contrasting colors: cool lake blues and warm autumnal reds, oranges, and yellows.
