White Owl Steakhouse

The White Owl Steakhouse is a roadside bar and grill. The extensive bar menu serves steak sandwiches, wings, burgers and fries, a fried flounder sandwich, and chili. There are steaks, too. Lots of locals drinking.

The atmosphere is super casual with a country feel overall. Put Dolly on the juke. Be aware that the drive is down a long country road that’s very dark and twisty even on a moonlit night. (Believe us, we’ve lived here. Get your country on). Good for groups, which is a good thing, as you can bring navigators to help with the drive.

Bonus: you’re just 15 miles from Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, where you can catch a live comedy or music show, or visit their museum based on the Woodstock music festival. Bethel Woods is the site where dairy farmer Max Yasgur rented his farm to the promoters of this historic 1969 event.
