Flying Dollar Airport is a privately owned, public-use airport located two nautical miles north of the central business district of Canadensis in Barrett Township.
One-way in, one-way out. Land to the north, take off to the south. With a half-mile of pristinely maintained turf tipping southward into an arresting vista, the Flying Dollar Airport is among the most picturesque airfields in America — just 30 minutes from Teterboro.
Turf taxiways and tie-downs are clearly marked and specially girded with a state-of-the-art aviation turf reinforcement product. No mud, no ruts, no confusion about where to go.
“Flew in yesterday – it’s a beautiful spot with a lot of history. It’s worthwhile to look at their website – lots of history for aviation buffs and great information for pilots. David and Aaron are welcoming and responsive to emails through the airport website site.
It is an interesting field for a pilot – to my knowledge the closest to the New York area that is a true one way in/one way out airport – a 4.5% slope up to the north along with tall trees at the north end of the field while the south end is completely unobstructed. Highly recommend a stop here, but do make sure to consider winds and field conditions.”
Open dawn to dusk, the airport is a privately-owned, public-use airport adjacent to the famed Skytop Lodge. The oldest airport in the Poconos (formerly Barrett Airport, est. 1928), the Flying Dollar is home to a well-maintained 2405′ turf runway, marked by easy-to-see white cones.
