Ironwood Point Campground and Marina, aka Ironwood Point Recreation Area, offers large wooded RV and tent campsites on a hilly peninsula overlooking fabulous Lake Wallenpaupack’s southwestern shoreline. Ironwood’s own marina is conveniently located right next door. This is a lake-centric campground, and it’s all about boating and fishing. Bring your boat!
The marina is one of the highlights for campers at Ironwood, but it is open to the public. Bring your boat; a slip can be rented by the day with an additional charge for boat launch. Tip: this is not a state park, it is a privately owned campground.
There are 49 sites for tents and trailers. 13 of the tent sites are “Prime” lakefront walk-in sites (walk to the site with your gear). There are picnic tables and fire rings throughout the campground, and each site has a fire ring. Firewood is available for purchase at the camp store.
There are also plenty of nature trails and a children’s playground.
Amenities include restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and a market for last minute supplies.
A special thing to do is to launch your boat from the marina to the lake’s Cairns, Burns, and Kipp islands. You’ll find grills and picnic tables there in the middle of the lake. You can bring a picnic. Fish your way to the island and grill up your catch when you get there.
