Smokey Belles is a queer-friendly artist homestead in the Catskills in a secluded woodland just 2 hours from New York City. It hosts up to 8 guests in 4 bedrooms with 13 beds and 1.5 baths.
It’a self-described queer-friendly multimedia artists’ homestead planted in one of the strongest arts and cultural communities in the Catskills.
In the tradition of art colonies in the Catskills, Smokey Belles Catskills is a queer friendly artist & writer retreat homestead, hosting since 2007. The property features seclusion, private river frontage, campfires, outdoor showers, wildflower gardens, and an authentic 1955 Catskills cabin, writer’s shack, & a New England style house with wild antique decor.
It’s got a 1940’s aesthetic rustic salt box style with old fashioned fixtures and antique decor styled in collaboration with co-owner Juliette Bergone’s local design shop Maison Bergogne.
There are 2 porches, and one of them is screened-in. The property boasts multiple campfire sites, just steps from the Delaware Rivere.
For those wishing to foster a reconnection with nature, & escape the urban bubble seeking inspiration, Smokey Belles is a respite for hiking, swimming, biking, reading featured books in library from One Grand Books , fishing, exploring nearby Narrowsburg, the “P-Town of the Catskills,” or just laying in a hammock on the bucolic Ten Mile River.
“This place was so magical, words can’t do it justice. The house was wonderfully designed, interesting objects and finds lovingly collected..The landscape and river frontage around the property are drop dead beautiful. Anie was a great host, super responsive, gave us tons of information. Can’t recommend this place enough.”
