This beautiful lake near Lake Wallenpaupack is known as one of the best swimming lakes in the state, and ESPN calls this one of the best places to fish in the Pocono Mountains.
Fairview Lake is a 169-acre natural glacier lake just south of Lake Wallenpaupack, providing a prime fishing and boating area. Boating is permitted on the lake, and gas motors are permitted. The lake has a maximum depth of 48 feet.
“It’s a good stocked trout lake. It is also excellent for pickerel. And it has some really large perch.”– ESPN
You do need a fishing permit. Pennsylvania offers one, three, and seven-day tourist licenses for non-residents. Read about it here, and your license will be emailed to you. Print it out you’re good to go.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission maintains a small boat launch facility on the southwestern corner of the lake, capacity approximately 10 cars with trailers. Boat access can be reached by taking SR 0390 north from I-84 to SR 4004.
As we said, the maximum depth is 48 feet. The lake is home to one of the most distinctive landforms in the state – running through the middle of this waterway is a ridge over which the water is only three to five feet deep. Bring your boat, jet skis, tubes, and pool noodles.
While you’re here, think about a trip to Fairview Lake Cafe. BYOB and enjoy a steak!
