Promised Land State Park sits 100 miles from NYC and 125 miles from Philly. It is spectacularly gorgeous, and it’s 3,000 acres are great for picnicking, bird and wildlife watching, trail biking, and hiking over miles over trails. You’ll boat, swim, and fish in 2 lakes. You’ll be surrounded by more than 12,000 acres of Delaware State Forest.

Promised Land is a state park, so it belongs to you and me, baby. You can roll up in your RV, pitch a tent, or rent a cabin. One caveat: book early! You can make a reservation for any of the cabin or camping areas here. Be sure to call many months in advance; this place books quickly and consistently.

Visitors to Promised Land State Park who wish to stay overnight have a choice of staying in one of four campgrounds with tent sites, or in rustic cabins that were built during the Great Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Campgrounds vary from rustic (flush toilets, no showers, and no electricity) to full hookup (sewer, electric, and water hookup on site). All campgrounds are near swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking.
Lower Lake Campground is on Lower Lake. It opens for the season in mid-April and closes in mid-December. The campground has flush toilets and showers with hot water.
Deerfield Campground is set back in a rocky forest. It is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. It does have flush toilets, but the nearest pay showers are in the picnic area. Deerfield campground is over 95 years old. The campsites include a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern holder.
Pickerel Point Campground is on a peninsula on the southern end of Promised Land Lake. There are walk-in campsites situated at various points along the shore. It has modern camping facilities, including bathhouses with green technology, and the first sites with sewer hookups in all the state parks in Pennsylvania. This is where you’ll find the full hook-up sites for your RV.
The Pines Campground is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. It is on the northwestern shore of Promised Land Lake. The campground does have flush toilets, but no showers. There are pay showers nearby in the picnic area.
Bear Wallow Cabins Colony is a group of 12 rustic cabins that were built and used by the CCC during the 1930s. Each cabin has a fireplace, refrigerator, modern shower and toilet outbuilding, beds and electricity.
You can make a reservation for any of the cabin or camping areas here. Be sure to call many months in advance; this place books quickly and consistently. Of course, you can visit the park and enjoy all it has to offer if you don’t choose to stay the night.
