Camp Nesher is a co-ed modern Orthodox Jewish summer camp. It’s an exciting and innovative Jewish summer adventure in a warm and wholesome environment imbued with traditional Modern Orthodox and Zionistic values. It’s a Modern Orthodox Jewish sleep away camp featuring a choice-based program for boys and girls entering 3rd – 10th grade.
The camp offers professional instruction in competitive and recreational sports, arts, aquatics, and electives, combined with daily Torah study and an emphasis on traditional Jewish values. They provide the ultimate Jewish summer camp experience.
Camp Nesher believes that the ideal camp experience entertains, educates, and builds character. They promote an inclusive atmosphere through a strong emphasis on midot bein adam l’chavero and treating one another with respect whether competing on the courts, conquering the climbing wall, or just hanging out together during downtime.
Some campers (and parents!) need to ease into their first-time camp experience. Camp Neshar offers a week-long orientation for campers entering 3rd or 4th grade to experience everything the camp has to offer. Receive a partial credit on your Short Stay tuition towards camp fees the following year, depending on session choice.
Medical staff consists of a doctor, registered nurses, and a Camp Mother. Nurses dispense medications from the Health Center which is open 24 hours a day to all who need it. In the event that additional medical services are needed, both Wayne County Memorial Hospital in Honesdale and Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton are located nearby.
At both lunch and dinner, they offer a salad bar, plain pasta, and fresh fruit to complement hot entrees. Campers celebrating a birthday get a cake along with a big round of Happy Birthday!
They are a nut-sensitive camp and cater to other food allergies or sensitivities as well. A vegetarian option is offered when meat meals are served. Camp Mother is on-hand at mealtimes for campers who might need that extra assistance in finding something to eat.
Every two days, campers are given the opportunity to choose 2 -3 new activities, depending on their Eidah. Campers are encouraged to try new things but are allowed to repeat activities if space allows.
Campers can choose to take a dip in the pool, enjoy the 65-acre lake, or build sandcastles while hanging out on the beach. American Red Cross instruction is offered daily to younger campers, and those who are ages 12 and up are eligible to receive a PA state boating license for jet skiing.
Watersports include jet skis, kayaks, sailboats, canoes, a banana boat, and paddleboards. There’s a climbing wall and a trampoline.
Adventure Training includes a 60′ climbing tower, a giant swing, a zip line, low ropes, and a vertical gym.
Campers may choose from an array of competitive and recreational sports offered daily through signup activities and divisional intramural leagues. Additionally, there are multiple opportunities to participate in inter-camp games including Wayne County Camp Alliance (WCCA) tournaments, various invitationals and Camp Nesher’s own Yom Nate – the largest, multi-sport event in our area.
The Athletics staff provides coaching and instruction with the goal of helping to develop a camper’s proficiency and level of self-esteem.
