The Chatwal Lodge is located in lovely White Lake, a hamlet of Bethel. It’s a log-cabin-inspired chalet, luxurious and beautiful and perched on the ledge of the 833-acre Toronto Reservoir. There are 27 cabins and rooms, A-frame saunas that nail the Scandinavian hygge vibe, and a restaurant called Dandelion that uses seasonal vegetables in its cuisine. It’s an all-inclusive setup, so everything is included. All this, and you can Bring Fido!
The promise is luxury “rustic” accommodations for a handful of well-heeled guests, absolute privacy, and the chance to relax with fly-fishing, boating, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, golfing, lawn croquet, and recreational badminton. Take unforgettable hikes under fall foliage, or bundle up for ice skating and cross-country skiing in winter. Personal pampering and growth activities include Ayurvedic wellness treatments, yoga, meditation, private wine tastings, cooking classes, and music lessons.
When you return, stop by the recreation center for a host of diversions like duckpin bowling and ping-pong, or dine on local farm-to-table specialties at the on-site restaurant and lobby lounge.
10 suites have vaulted ceilings, arched windows, reclaimed-wood walls, log-treaded stairs, hand-carved headboards, and faux fur and woolen upholstery. Some accommodations will additionally have larger lakeside decks, outdoor showers, deep soaking tubs, kitchens, dining and living areas suitable for family gatherings. The amenities include 24-hour valet service, concierge and butler service, as well as 24-hour in-suite dining.
“Our trip in mid-June was a much needed respite. The staff is well trained and the answer to any question or request was always, “Yes, of course!” The grounds are breathtaking and the lake is tranquil and a beautiful place to watch the sunset. The accommodations are fabulous with every attention to detail. The chef was superb and the meals were unique, locally sourced from breakfast to dinner!”
