Ice Lake Cresco is a prime trout fishing lake in a 65-acre preserve. It’s great for birding. Bring Fido! Ice Lake is a little jewel of a preserve in Barrett Township. The trail is centered around Ice Lake, which was originally built for ice making.
Like general stores throughout the Poconos, the nearby Seguine store made ice for its own use and for sale to local customers. The trail is an easy 1.5-mile loop mixed with wide and well-groomed trail – in some places, rocky and narrow in others. A hiking stick is helpful for balance.
The trails all center around the lake, which was originally built for ice making. The preserve protects Hardytown Run and more than 70 acres — more trails are planned — but the feel of the place is neighborly and intimate.
“Really nice, simple forested walk that is absolutely beautiful to visit when the autumn leaves change color and are reflected by the lake.”
