The Lodge at Woodloch is the adults-only sister spa property of the family-friendly Woodloch Resort, about two miles down the road. It’s a 4-star spa hotel set on over 400 woodland acres in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. Lake, forest, and meadow make up the Waldenesque setting of this spa, where peaceful morning kayak expeditions are as popular as the treatment. It offers a charming environment throughout the seasons for guests age 16 and older.
Named by Travel + Leisure in 2024 in the top 16 destination spas in the U.S.
In 2018, The Lodge was named a United States Top 10 Destination Spa by Travel + Leisure magazine. In 2019, they bumped it up to World’s Best. It’s also listed by Travel + Leisure in their “Best Adults Only Hotels”.
The kid-free spa resort has 58 accommodations (each complete with a private balcony), over 35 classes (from silk scarf painting and smoothie demos to evening kayaking and ax throwing), and six-plus miles of trails (ideal for hiking and forest bathing). Guests also enjoy three gourmet meals per day (plus snacks)—many of which use herbs and produce grown on-site or locally (think: handcrafted black bean burgers served with garden greens, pasta with summer squash)—as well as the use of indoor and outdoor swimming pools (the latter overlooks the surrounding forest), whirlpools, saunas, and a 3,000-square-foot fitness studio.
As of late 2021, the lodge has added 3 new spa amenities that include the first Spa Snow Room in the United States. 2023? They’ve added pickleball courts!
“Escape from urban life at this lakeside retreat on 150 wooded acres two hours northwest of New York City, where hatha yoga sessions are followed by rounds of golf and wine tastings. The 40,000-square-foot spa is made for languid afternoons, thanks to its fireplace-equipped quiet room and hydromassage pools.”– Travel + Leisure
We say: Oh, yes, this is très chic – chichi, even. Plus wine. The Lodge at Woodloch is an all-inclusive resort, though alcoholic beverages and spa treatments are additional. 3 artfully-crafted gourmet meals per night and over 23 classes per day are included.

Its petite gourmet meals, which change daily, break typical spa-cuisine rules: There are omelets and full-caf coffee for breakfast, burgers, smoothies at lunch, and beef carpaccio and molten chocolate soufflés at dinner.”– Travel – Nurture Your New-Age Self at Philadelphia Magazine.
Rooms here are surprisingly un-spa-like, tricked out as they are with plasma-screen TVs, wireless Internet, cushy beds, private balconies, and dark chocolate truffles that appear every evening on the bedside table. Onsite property Tree Restaurant and Bar feels oddly like the Fountain at Four Seasons, except the view is of a white oak forest, not the traffic around Logan Circle.
The real draw is the spa, where you’ll begin your session with a soak under the hydro massage waterfalls, then head to one of the 27 treatment rooms for reiki, Thai-inspired herbal massage, sound therapy, hydra facials, and more.
For a family or group vacation in a resort setting, be sure to have a look at the spa resort’s sister property, Woodloch Resort. General consensus is that it’s the best family resort in the Pocono Mountains, and possibly the best in the country.
According to Forbes Magaine, Woodloch is “widely recognized as one of the most luxurious and innovative destination spas in the country. The Lodge at Woodloch pampers guests from the moment they arrive with attentive, discreet service that takes indulgence to new heights.”
