Roscoe is a tiny (population 500) Sullivan County town that has a few good things going for it, and this is one of them. It’s a working-family fiber farm that’s fantastic for animal lovers.
They sell their own blankets, socks, gloves, hats, scarves, Buck Brook Catskills Legacy Yarn, accesories and clothing. You can buy them online or in their shop.
Buck Brook Alpacas is a welcoming and beautiful farm. Their approximately 100 Huacaya alpacas, 2 llamas, many chickens, and several cats are gorgeous, healthy, and clearly loved and well cared for. They offer tours and alpaca walks.
Shop online or to the farm for brushed alpaca blankets, soft alpaca decorative pillows, and luxurious home goods.
If you want to make a weekend of it, the Buck Brook also rents out a three-bedroom apartment on the property, which comes with a tour and the ability to walk the alpacas.
There are actually a few more things to do in Roscoe, known as Trout Town USA, the “ultimate fishing town.”
“I visited Buck Brook Alpacas while I was in Roscoe, NY. I went online first and booked my 45-minute tour. It was $12 and they ask if you want to add a tip. I arrived early and signed in at the store and got my ticket. There were six other people there in my tour group and our tour leader was a young girl who walked us through the farm and told us a lot about each animal. They have a pig, some rabbits, chickens, and of course lots of alpacas and a couple of llamas. The tour guide was nice enough to let us pet a 3-day-old alpaca. So cute! We were all given apple slices to feed the animals also. The farm is kept very clean and the faces on the alpacas are cute. I stopped at the store on my way out to buy some alpaca socks and a tee shirt. Definitely recommend visiting the alpacas!”
