The Forestburgh Playhouse has been bringing Broadway to the Catskills since 1947. It’s the oldest continuously operating summer theater in New York State. Founded by John Grahame and Alexander Maissel, it was originally the Forestburgh Summer Theatre until 1980, when the name was changed to the Forestburgh Playhouse.
They operate from mid-June through Labor Day, with a few additional shows throughout the fall.
Right next door, you’ll find the Forestburgh Tavern, with a gorgeous outdoor patio overlooking the incomparable Forestburgh Playhouse Garden.
“We had a great time experiencing the first rate acting, singing, and quality musicians who were part of The Buddy Holly Story. The epitome of professional theater in a summer stock setting. The Forestburgh Playhouse has an excellent reputation for professional caliber theater. You won’t be disappointed.”
