“All done! 5 new greens. 2 completely new holes. A driving range and putting course.”
With 9 greens and 18 tees, Sullivan County’s holes offer a variety of length and challenge. The course overlooks a stunning mountain valley and plays across a trout stream where you are free to stop and drop a line.
For nearly 100 years, Sullivan County Golf Club’s fairways have carried golfers over and across the hillsides of Liberty, New York. Just around the corner from the once legendary Grossinger’s Resort and not far from the fields that hosted Woodstock, Sullivan County GC has seen a lot of history, including a transatlantic flight to Denmark that departed from its 8th fairway in 1931. Designed by Maurice McCarthy and Len Rayner (longtime pro and superintendent at Leatherstocking), it was the highest course in the state of New York when it opened in 1925.
Note: Fabulous Italian restaraunt Piccolo is on its way! Foster Supply Hospitality has taken over and will be behind the move.
They’ve received the James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards Semi-Finalist for their restaurant The DeBruce, located in their historic hotel The Debruce. It’s been called “One of the Best New Hotels in the World” by Conde Nast Traveler.
Something fun and unusual: for now, at least, you can Bring Fido, so long as Fido’s leashed. Best to give a call to check before you go!
