Milk Barn in Hankins
- Hankins,
- Hankins 12741
The Milk Barn in Hankins hosts 15 guests in 5 bedrooms with 7 beds and 2.5 baths where you can Bring Fido! It’s a 2023 Airbnb ‘Guest Favorite’.
Set on 15 private acres in the hills of New York’s Sullivan County at the heart of the scenic Catskills & Delaware River Valley, this extraordinary property is just two hours and a half from New York City.
The converted barn and its two guest houses (up to fifteen people in summer, twelve in winter) date back to 1873. Traces of its past, as a dairy barn, a getaway and artistic outlet, can still be felt today. The details of this property have been described as “other-worldly” and lend many different textures both indoor and out for photo and video shoots, and mainly for a perfect friends & family reunion.
The European influence can be seen today all over the property, especially in its more eccentric details–like the giant, tiled soaking tub in the basement, intricately etched window-doors between rooms, beautifully tiled marble floorm or the nude bas relief in the master bath. In the entrance, stained glass pocket doors open to the fully equipped chef’s kitchen.
The second guesthouse is the Milk Shack), which hugs the barn, is a studio-like renovated milk-shed equipped with a shower and sink.
In the open-format living room, the barn’s enormous doors open up to a bluestone patio, connecting the inside and outside. Outside, the nostalgic European influence continues in the landscaping choice of cypress trees. There’s an actual treehouse welcoming us at the entrance of the property.
“This is my third time visiting the Milk Barn, because I love it so much that I keep having to bring my favorite people to come experience it. Tucked away outside of some of my favorite upstate towns of Callicoon, Narrowsburg and Livingston Manor, this haven is such a fun winter getaway. The space is gorgeous and impeccably decorated, with all the kitchen supplies you need to make gourmet meals in the best kitchen with big windows for views of the snow and deer. The beds are top notch with luxury bedding, you’ll never run out out of firewood or good vinyl, and the little Hagrid’s Hut (Moon Shack) out by the pond is one of my favorite spots on earth. My niece and I camped out in there and stayed cozy with the first in 8 degree weather! This place is truly special.”
