Hygge House is a 1790 farmhouse that hosts 6 guests in 2 bedrooms with 2 beds and 2 baths. Completely updated and modernized. It’s an Airbnb ‘Guest Favorite’ run by Superhost Peter and it sits on a sloping hill overlooking Minisink Battleground Park.
“Hygge is a Danish term defined as “a quality of cosiess and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.” Pronounced “hoo-guh,” the word is said to have no direct translation in English, though “cozy” comes close. It derives from a sixteenth-century Norwegian term, hugga, meaning “to comfort” or “to console,” which is related to the English word “hug.”
You can walk off the deck, cross the lawn, and explore 50 acres of beautiful trails. On a private road, the house has plenty of peace and quiet. There are two charming bedrooms, two full baths, a cozy living room, a sun room (or a third bedroom), a fully stocked kitchen, and a laundry room. These rooms a bit more modern than they were in 1790, while keeping the farmhouse vibe.
Your 55″ HDTV has Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV, HBO Max, and Hulu.
The farmhouse is nestled a mile above Rt. 97. It scales the Delaware River. A private road leads to the farmhouse so you’ll have complete peace and quiet. The property enjoys an amazing variety of birds, including bald eagles. The 50 acre park is filled with moss lined trails leading to Revolutionary battleground sites, rock dwellings that Native Americans took shelter in thousands of years ago, and plenty of wildlife. A mile down the road is the Delaware River and 3 river outfitters which rent out canoes, kayaks and rafting.
“Having just spent a week at Peter and Whitney’s place, I feel refreshed, rejuvenated and so happy to have experienced a week in their lovely home. The adorable house is quiet and so comfortable and while secluded, one can take a quick drive up or down scenic Route 97 to cute towns, and visit shops and restaurants in the area. The extra treat is stepping off their deck into their yard and straight to lovely hiking trails through a state park. Did it every morning! WiFi is fantastically strong and the A/C kept the house nice and cool on humid days. Peter and Whitney were quick to respond and lovely hosts. Overall, book this place! You will not be disappointed!!”
