Musical wizard and true star Todd Rundgren will touch down for his April Penn’s Peak show.
The Philadelphia native, best known for hits like “Hello It’s Me,” “Bang the Drum All Day” and “We Gotta Get You a Woman,” is one of the most underrated influences on modern music. His progressive rock style, visually inventive live shows and use of new technology throughout much of his career — Rundgren was one of the first to distribute his music through the internet in the 1990s — set the stage for a highly technical 21st century music scene.
It was his 1972’s seminal Something/Anything?, on which he played all the instruments, sang all the vocal parts, and acted as his own producer, that catapulted Todd into the superstar limelight, prompting the press to unanimously dub him ‘Rock’s New Wunderkind’. It was followed by such landmark LPs as The Hermit of Mink Hollow and the above mentioned A Wizard, A True Star, as well as such hit singles as I Saw The Light, Hello It’s Me, Can We Still Be Friends, and Bang The Drum.
Door at 6, show at 8. Tickets go on sale January 19.
