“Pierogies are just such a big thing in the area,” said Ashley Seier, director of marketing for Blue Mountain Resort, in explaining the origins of the festival.
And while they might be found at Oktoberfest celebrations, there’s no specific local festival dedicated to them, she said. That, coupled with pierogi purveyors expanding into dessert flavors and other creative offerings, made it the right time for Blue Mountain Resort to “celebrate the uniqueness of the dish.”
Accordingly, attendees will choose the best pierogi in three categories — traditional, dessert and creative.
