It’s all about the dog. Rootin Tootin serves dogs from Stryker Farm in nearby Saylorsburg. The result is a GMO, gluten, antibiotic, hormone, and nitrate-free dog. These are all good things. The dogs don’t have a snap to the skin, but the benefits kind of outweigh that factor. Lots and lots of toppings and a friendly presentation.
The Rootin Tootin take on fries is to lightly smash a boiled potato, cut it into slices, and hit those slices with the deep-fryer. These gorgeous crispy fat little bundles can be ordered with any of a number of dipping sauces, including garlic aioli. Buttered and grilled split-top buns (YES!) are available in a gluten-free version.
They offer party packs that you can take back to your campsite or wherever you’re staying. Ask to have the dogs raw and you can use the grill back at your place. They can’t be beat on the fixins. If you choose to stay, you’ll find tables inside and a couple of picnic tables in the parking lot, which is not a bad thing – West Main Street is very pretty.
