Jim Thorpe’s Olde Time Christmas Weekends
December 10 - December 18Free
Jim Thorpe is decked in Victorian style for the annual Olde Time Christmas celebration, with special events held over three magical Saturday/Sunday weekends in December. Like a scene from Currier and Ives, the village nestled in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains and decorated in Victorian style will kindle the heart and captivate the imagination.
During the 41st annual Jim Thorpe Olde Time Christmas (Dec 3-4, 10-11, 17-18), visitors will be entertained throughout town.
The Olde Time Christmas Festival is recognized by Smarter Travel as one of the “10 Best Small Towns for the Holidays” and “10 Most Christmassy Things to Do in PA” by Undercover PA.
Festivities begin with the tree lighting ceremony in Josiah White Park on December 2. The festival has strolling carolers and musicians, holiday shopping, and plenty of free family activities. Fees apply to some events, with proceeds benefiting local charities.
A full menu of fun awaits, including ghost walks, St. Mark Church Tours, and Christmas Trolley Tours. Make time for an evening stroll through town to admire the glistening lights and decorations, too.
Pictures with Santa are also held throughout the three-weekend festival.
Make reservations for the whole family for a ride aboard the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway for a picturesque ride.
Jim Thorpe is only 90 minutes from Philadelphia, two hours from New York City, and 35 minutes from the Lehigh Valley.
