There’s no shortage of fall scenery to explore across Big Pocono State Park. It spans 1,306 acres of scenic views from the summit and slopes of Camelback Mountain. Hiking the rugged terrain offers a fun challenge while letting you see all the pretty quaking aspen, oak, maple, hickory, and gray birch trees up close.
Update! According to the good folks at The Eldred Preserve, changes of up to 20% in the Sullivan County Catskills with pops of vibrant autumn colors are emerging everywhere on September 19.
A paved, 1.4-mile, ADA-accessible drive encircles the mountaintop, providing magnificent views of Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. However, the best place for viewing foliage is at the park’s summit, where a scenic overlook offers views for miles of the popular Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and beyond.
For the best views, you’ll want to go straight to the summit of Camelback Mountain. From that vantage point, you can take in the quilt of color across eastern Pennsylvania while looking as far as New Jersey and New York. Don’t miss the chance to dine in style at the Summit House, which goes big on classic comfort food while offering phenomenal views.
